Step 1: Measure and Prepare Your Wall

Measure the length and height of the area you want to cover. Multiply those numbers to get total square footage, then divide by 11 (the coverage per panel) to figure out how many panels you need. Round up, because you can always trim excess with scissors.

Before you start, mark your starting point and ending point on the wall. This keeps the layout straight and prevents you from working yourself into an awkward corner.

A few things to check first:

  • Make sure no electrical panels, outlets, or access points will be blocked by the installation.
  • If you're in a rental property, consider removable adhesive hooks instead of drilling.

Step 2: Mount Your First Panel

On Concrete or Brick Walls

  1. Hold the panel against the wall and mark where your drill holes will go. Use a level to keep things straight.
  2. Drill holes at the marked spots using a masonry bit.
  3. Tap in your wall plugs (concrete anchors) with a hammer.
  4. Screw the panel into place through the panel's backing grid. Use washers to spread the load.

On Drywall or Plaster Surfaces

  1. Mark the installation area on the wall.
  2. Use drywall-specific anchors or toggle bolts. Standard screws alone will pull out of drywall under the panel's weight.
  3. Screw the panel into the anchors. Go firm but not so tight that you crack the drywall behind it.

On Wooden Surfaces (Timber, Cedar, MDF Fences)

  1. Locate the beams or structural supports in the fence or wall. Panels hold best when screwed into solid wood, not just surface boards.
  2. Drive wood screws or use a heavy-duty staple gun to secure the panel directly into the wood.
  3. Give the panel a firm tug after mounting to confirm it's stable.

On Mesh, Tubular, or Railing Fences

This is the simplest installation. No drilling at all.

  1. Push a UV-rated zip tie through the panel's backing mesh and around the fence wire or railing.
  2. Loop it back through the zip tie head and pull tight.
  3. Trim the excess tail with scissors.
  4. Use 6-8 zip ties per panel for a secure hold, evenly spaced around the edges.

On Corrugated Metal or Steel Privacy Fences

  1. Check that the vertical posts behind the fence are solid enough to hold weight. If the fence flexes significantly, add bracing poles behind it first.
  2. Starting from one end of the fence, screw the panel directly into the metal using a self-drilling metal screw with a washer. Space screws every 10 inches along the panel edges.

Safety note: Always use fixings rated for your specific surface type. If you're working with an unusual material, check the fastener manufacturer's recommendations before you start.

Step 3: Connect the Second Panel

  2. Find the connectors: Look along the panel edges for the clips and lugs. They're designed to snap together without tools.
  3. Snap together: Align two panel edges and press the clips into the lugs until you hear a click. Run your hand along the joint to confirm it's tight and there are no gaps.
  4. Mount the connected section: Once panels are joined, mount them to the wall or fence using the same method from Step 2.

Step 4: Fill the Remaining Area

Keep repeating the process: snap a new panel onto the edge of the last one, then secure it to the surface. When you reach the end of a row, you'll probably need to trim the final panel to fit.

Trimming is straightforward. The backing is a flexible mesh that cuts easily with regular scissors or a utility knife. Cut along the mesh grid lines for a clean edge, and tuck the cut side against the wall edge or corner where it won't be visible.

Step 5: Fluff the Foliage

Panels ship compressed for packaging, so the leaves will look flat right out of the box. Spend a few minutes gently pulling and separating the foliage by hand. This fills in any thin spots and covers the seams between panels. It makes a noticeable difference in the finished look.

Pay extra attention to the joints between panels. A little fluffing at the seams makes the entire wall read as one continuous surface instead of individual squares.
