Watch: How to Measure Your Wall for Green Panels

Jump to Your Installation Type

Tools You'll Need

The tools depend on what surface you're mounting to. Here's the breakdown:

For Timber, Drywall, Stucco, MDF, or Plastic Surfaces

For Mesh, Tubular, or Railing Fences

For Brick, Concrete, Masonry, or Stone

How to Install Green Wall Panels

Green wall panels are the most popular option for covering large surfaces quickly. Each panel covers approximately 11 square feet (40" x 40"), and they snap together using built-in clips and lugs along the edges. The result is a seamless wall of greenery with no visible seams or gaps.

Popular panel options include the Country Fern Vertical Garden, the Jasmine Green Wall, and the Flowering Hawaiian Sunrise. All panels are commercial-grade with UV protection and a 5-year fade warranty.

Step 1: Measure and Prepare Your Wall

Measure the length and height of the area you want to cover. Multiply those numbers to get total square footage, then divide by 11 (the coverage per panel) to figure out how many panels you need. Round up, because you can always trim excess with scissors.

Before you start, mark your starting point and ending point on the wall. This keeps the layout straight and prevents you from working yourself into an awkward corner.

A few things to check first:

  • Make sure no electrical panels, outlets, or access points will be blocked by the installation.
  • If you're in a rental property, consider removable adhesive hooks instead of drilling.
  • Keep panels away from open flames. Even UV-treated and fire-tested materials should have clearance from direct heat sources.

Step 2: Mount Your First Panel

The mounting method depends entirely on what your wall is made of. Pick the surface type below that matches your project.

On Concrete or Brick Walls

  1. Hold the panel against the wall and mark where your drill holes will go. Use a level to keep things straight.
  2. Drill holes at the marked spots using a masonry bit.
  3. Tap in your wall plugs (concrete anchors) with a hammer.
  4. Screw the panel into place through the panel's backing grid. Use washers to spread the load.

On Drywall or Plaster Surfaces

  1. Mark the installation area on the wall.
  2. Use drywall-specific anchors or toggle bolts. Standard screws alone will pull out of drywall under the panel's weight.
  3. Screw the panel into the anchors. Go firm but not so tight that you crack the drywall behind it.

On Wooden Surfaces (Timber, Cedar, MDF Fences)

  1. Locate the beams or structural supports in the fence or wall. Panels hold best when screwed into solid wood, not just surface boards.
  2. Drive wood screws or use a heavy-duty staple gun to secure the panel directly into the wood.
  3. Give the panel a firm tug after mounting to confirm it's stable.

On Mesh, Tubular, or Railing Fences

This is the simplest installation. No drilling at all.

  1. Push a UV-rated zip tie through the panel's backing mesh and around the fence wire or railing.
  2. Loop it back through the zip tie head and pull tight.
  3. Trim the excess tail with scissors.
  4. Use 6-8 zip ties per panel for a secure hold, evenly spaced around the edges.

On Corrugated Metal or Steel Privacy Fences

  1. Check that the vertical posts behind the fence are solid enough to hold weight. If the fence flexes significantly, add bracing poles behind it first.
  2. Starting from one end of the fence, screw the panel directly into the metal using a self-drilling metal screw with a washer. Space screws every 10 inches along the panel edges.

Safety note: Always use fixings rated for your specific surface type. If you're working with an unusual material, check the fastener manufacturer's recommendations before you start.

Step 3: Connect the Second Panel

Every panel has built-in clips and lugs along its edges. These are how panels lock together to create a seamless look.

  1. Orient your panels: Lay panels flat before mounting and confirm they all face the same direction. The foliage pattern should flow naturally from one panel to the next.
  2. Find the connectors: Look along the panel edges for the clips and lugs. They're designed to snap together without tools.
  3. Snap together: Align two panel edges and press the clips into the lugs until you hear a click. Run your hand along the joint to confirm it's tight and there are no gaps.
  4. Mount the connected section: Once panels are joined, mount them to the wall or fence using the same method from Step 2.

Step 4: Fill the Remaining Area

Keep repeating the process: snap a new panel onto the edge of the last one, then secure it to the surface. When you reach the end of a row, you'll probably need to trim the final panel to fit.

Trimming is straightforward. The backing is a flexible mesh that cuts easily with regular scissors or a utility knife. Cut along the mesh grid lines for a clean edge, and tuck the cut side against the wall edge or corner where it won't be visible.

Step 5: Fluff the Foliage

Panels ship compressed for packaging, so the leaves will look flat right out of the box. Spend a few minutes gently pulling and separating the foliage by hand. This fills in any thin spots and covers the seams between panels. It makes a noticeable difference in the finished look.

Pay extra attention to the joints between panels. A little fluffing at the seams makes the entire wall read as one continuous surface instead of individual squares.

How to Install a Green Wall Disc

Green wall discs are round, framed pieces of artificial greenery that hang on a wall like artwork. They're a great option when you want a focal point rather than full wall coverage. Perfect for lobbies, dining rooms, spa reception areas, or anywhere you want a single statement piece.

We carry discs in multiple sizes and frame finishes, including the 30" Black Frame, the 30" White Frame, the 20" White Frame, and Limited Edition Gold Frame options.

Step 1: Pick Your Spot and Mark It

Choose a clean, flat wall and decide exactly where you want the center of the disc. Mark that center point with a pencil. If you're hanging multiple discs in a grouping, use a tape measure to get consistent spacing between each one.

Step 2: Drill and Set Your Supports

Drill holes at the marked points. If you're mounting into drywall, insert wall anchors first. For concrete or brick, use wall plugs. Screw in hooks or brackets rated for the disc's weight.

Step 3: Hang the Disc

Align the hanging hardware on the back of the disc with your wall hooks or brackets. Set it in place carefully and check that it's level. If it's off, adjust the hooks before you tighten everything down.

Step 4: Confirm and Adjust

Give the disc a gentle pull to make sure it's holding securely. Step back and check that it sits straight on the wall. Adjust the foliage if any pieces shifted during hanging.

How to Assemble an Artificial Hedge

Freestanding artificial hedges come as flat-packed kits with frame rods, side panels, and a foliage top. Assembly takes about 15 minutes per section and requires nothing more than a mallet. These are ideal for property boundaries, restaurant patio dividers, pool deck privacy screens, and lobby accents.

Options include the 6ft Boxwood Hedge, the 7.5ft Boxwood Hedge, and the Two-Tone Green Boxwood Hedge Panel. All are UV-resistant and built for commercial use.

Step 1: Unbox and Lay Out Parts

Open the box and identify all the pieces: frame rods, side panels, top section, and any connectors. You'll need a box cutter to open the packaging and a mallet for assembly. Lay everything out on a flat surface so you can see what you're working with.

Step 2: Assemble the Frame

Insert the frame rods into their designated holes on the base and side panels. Push them in firmly by hand first, then use a mallet to seat them fully. The fit should be snug enough that the frame stands on its own.

Step 3: Attach the Top Section

Connect the top crosspieces from one side of the hedge frame to the holes on the opposite side. These lock the whole structure together and give it lateral stability.

Step 4: Secure the Side Panels

Attach the side foliage panels by aligning the numbered markers and directional arrows printed on each piece. Press the corner fittings onto the frame lugs at a diagonal angle until they click into position.

Once all panels are attached, fluff the foliage by hand to cover any visible seams and give the hedge a full, natural appearance.

Artificial Green Wall Installation FAQ

What tools do I need to install artificial green wall panels?

For most installations, you need basic tools you probably already own: a drill, screws, and a level. For mesh or chain-link fences, all you need are UV-rated zip ties and scissors. We also carry complete screw and plug kits for different surface types.

Can these panels be installed outdoors?

Yes. All panels in our collection are designed for both indoor and outdoor use with commercial-grade UV protection. They carry a 5-year warranty against fading. For outdoor installations, make sure panels are secured firmly enough to handle wind. Zip ties on fence installations should be checked once or twice a year to confirm they're still tight.

What if the panels don't fit my wall exactly?

Panels are designed to be trimmed. The backing is a flexible mesh that cuts cleanly with regular scissors or a utility knife. When joining panels, the built-in clips and lugs create a secure snap-fit connection that requires no additional hardware.

Do the panels connect to each other?

Yes. Every panel has clips and lugs along all four edges that snap together. This interlocking system creates a seamless look across large surfaces. The connection points are strong enough that joined panels can be handled as a single unit during mounting.

How do I maintain an artificial green wall after installation?

Maintenance is minimal. Dust the surface occasionally with a dry cloth or use compressed air to clear debris. For outdoor installations, a light rinse with a garden hose works well. Avoid abrasive cleaners and high-pressure washers, as these can damage the foliage texture over time. We carry a dedicated Eco-Safe Artificial Plant Cleaner for deeper cleaning.

How do I assemble artificial hedges in planters?

Follow the frame assembly steps from the hedge section above, then simply place the assembled hedge into your planter. No cutting or gardening tools required. Once it's in position, fluff the foliage by hand to hide any visible seams and fill in gaps between the hedge and planter edges.

Are installation videos available for every method?

Yes. Video tutorials are embedded throughout this guide for each surface type and product category. Scroll to the section that matches your project to find the relevant walkthrough.
